Now here's an interesting idea that never in a million years have thought of myself: Apparently, some brides are listening to their wedding dresses for sale before the wedding, hoping to recover some of the costs before the big day. Why the increase in pre wedding cocktail dresses before using for sale?
Overspending is a theory advanced in a recent article Field Notes on the New York Times:
Emily Newman, founder of oncewed.com, estimates there are about 200 publications and in its place, compared to only 18 months ago. Josie Daga, which began preowned cheap & wholesale wedding dresses, wait 50 or more pre-sale listings on its site this year, compared to none two years ago ... One of the reasons for high prices is that the sale of wedding dresses often spend much more than originally planned and hope to get some money back - quickly.
Then there is the style factor. In general, the wedding trends cycle more slowly than other trends, but while styles sleeved bridesmaid dress shows will remain fairly constant over, say, a decade, what's hot in the eyes of the brides follow the changes year to year.
